FABRIC OF MEANING

SELLIER & DE WERT media makers regards stories as the major instruments in the fabric of meaning. Meaning in terms of which human beings interpret their experience and guide their action. We take storytelling therefore as a fundamental human characteristic and we regard searching, selecting, and re-presenting stories as a form of cultural analysis, attributing to the same fabric of meaning it tries to understand.

In sorting out the structures of signification, we use the camera as our tool and focus on stories that combine cultural and historical themes with strong human interest narratives. With this tool and this focus we produce our own stories. Documentary stories, that are either captured in stills, in moving media, or in interactive multimedia presentations, but always present our best understanding of what we observe. That is how and why we ‘make media’.
